I am so excited about this oil as are many others and it has been a big point of discussion at many of my recent classes so I have been doing a lot of research and learning as much as I can about it so thought I would share some of this with you here.
There has been a lot of hype surrounding this oil after its release at the annual doTERRA convention in Utah earlier this month.
Dr Hill said “I believe this might become one of the most beneficial oils that we carry” when he announced Copaiba at the convention.
As with all oils, doTERRA produces, sourcing is of high importance. This oil is sourced from the resin of four Copaifera Officinalis trees in Brazil and is a unique blend of 4 different species! This oil comes with a wide range of supportive qualities (from the Essential Life book) including:
- Pain and inflammation, arthritis, gout and muscle cramps
- Liver toxicity and liver issues
- Tendonitis, plantar fasciitis and heel spurs
- Respiratory issues, sore throat and tonsils
- Bedwetting and incontinence
- Colitis and intestinal infections
- Nervous system
- Inflammatory response
- Cardiovascular health
- Fungal, bacterial and viral infections
- Emotional Balance (soothes anxious feelings)
Since the 16th century, copaiba essential oil has been utilized in traditional health practices by the nativesof north and northeastern Brazil. Similar to Black Pepper essential oil, Copaiba can help soothe anxious feelings and it can be applied to the skin to promote a clear, smooth complexion.
There has been a lot of talk about this oil have similar effects to Cannabis oil, while they share the same chemical compound (the most prevalent compound is beta-caryophyllene (BCP) – doTERA Copaiba contains 60% BCP), they are not to be confused as one and the same.
Copaiba has a direct effect on the Endocannabinoid System. Endocannabinoids and their receptors are found throughout the body: in the brain, organs, connective tissues, glands, and immune cells. The endocannabinoid system, with its complex actions in our immune system, nervous system, and all of the body's organs, is literally a bridge between body and mind.
The Endocannabinoid system has 2 receptors - CB1 (Brain and Central Nervous System) and CB2 (Endocrine System and Immune System). When CB1 is activated, it stimulates psychoactive effects. Which means it has the ability to change brain function and therefore alters perception, mood, consciousness and behaviour. On the other hand CB2 does not trigger those ‘high’ effects! So how do we get the benefit without the psychoactive effects?
This is where Copaiba comes in - it binds to the CB2 receptors (having a direct interaction on CB2) without interacting with CB1 and therefore allowing you to have the same benefits as other cannabinoids.
I pinched some of this info from my good friend Karlie at Coco Motion Mumma as a lot of it goes over my head and it is taking me a while to get my head around it, so I am sure it is for you too!
Copaiba is also known as a magnifier, anytime you use it with another essential oil, it will have the effect of magnifying the properties of that oil.
I have been using this for the last few days on my knees (usually I use ice blue as I have a lot of soreness in them especially when I wear heels, walk too much or run and they have been feeling amazing!) + some of the testimonials that have been coming out from people using this oil are amazing!
Here are some other ways you can use this amazing oil:
